Situated on the southern
border of the Sierra do Galiñeiro (Pontevedra), it covers 746 hectares, and
was the first Parque Natural created in Galicia (1978). It has also been
declared a Nature Reserve of National Interest. Among its most attractive
features are the panoramic views it offers of the Miño and Louro Valleys, as
well as the large number of tree species there, both indigenous and exotic,
and the granite landscapes.
DUNAS
DE CORRUBEDO NATURE PARK. THE CARREGALY VIXÁN LAGOONS
Located on the Barbanza Peninsula. Its main feature the
its complex of dunes, which contains a wide variety of habitats and
landscapes extending over an area of nearly 1,000 hectares.
ISLAS
CÍES NATURE PARK
Awarded Parque Natural status in 1984. Situated at the mouth of the Ría de
Vigo, the park consists of an archipelago of three islands, with a surface
area of 433 hectares.
BAIXA
LIMIA-SERRA DO XURÉS NATURE PARK
Situated in the southwestern part of Ourense province, it covers an area of
20,920 hectares.
Nature
reserve which lies between the provinces of Lugo and León, with the part in
Galicia covering 7,977 hectares. It was created to "promote, encourage, conserve
and protect certain species, with the possibility of developing hunting there
also in mind ". The reserve is home to some of Galicia's most interesting
natural ecosystems as well as different mountain villages, places of great
anthropological and heritage value.
